I walked into Lori's home to help her with her fight against her disease and I realized I had met a fabulous person. her husband Joe was there of course and the LOVE was so so evident. I just want all to know I appreciate the opportunity to meet her and her essence will always be with me. I wish I had known her better but fate puts you where you need to be when you need to be there.

Lori and I chased the search for a cure for her cancer from here to Atlanta for one and a half years. She fought with great bravery and fortitude. Although unsuccessful, she inspired many who are fighting that same battle. Just as Lori fought her illness, she never gave up on me even though she had good reason many times early on in our relationship. I love her for that and for the great memories she has given me.
I will not kid you. Life without Lori is very difficult. As I said at her funeral, I miss her every second of my life. I know that she wouldn't want me to give up and that is what inspires me to go forward each day without her.
Lori taught how to love and how to have compassion. She changed me for the better. A large part of me now is what she gave and inspired in me. She was the most generous person I have ever known. She was all about helping others whether it be other people (Meals on Wheels and many other things) or the many homeless animals she rescued. Heaven is a brighter and better place because of her.
Lori loved our daughter, Hope. Hope is truly the light and love of her life. Lori did everything possible so she could live long enough to be at Hope's wedding. She told me numerous times before the wedding that she would be strong for the wedding and did not want to be a distraction because of her illness. The Lord gave her great strength that week. The picture in her obituary was taken at the wedding just a few weeks ago on June 8.
I told her before she died I would continue the cause for homeless animals and would be there for our daughter and her husband, Raleigh. Lori died without protracted suffering at the very last and had her beautiful smile on her face. God took home one of his angels.
I will close with a saying I repeated to her over the past few months and put on a plaque which I gave to her for our anniversary this past July 3." My beautiful wife-you are my love, my life, my everything, you are my Lori. I will love you forever. Joe."
Thank you for never giving up on me, my babygirl, my precious Lori.
Your Loving Husband, Joe

Steve and I will not be with you today, but our thoughts will be. What a beautiful tribute to your mother in her obituary. Losing your Mom is very hard, I know. However, she left you a gift of all the treasured memories of your life together. Hold your memories close in the coming difficult days as they will help see you through. All our love to you, Raleigh and your Dad, Uncle Steve and Aunt Jane

I first met Joe in 1990ish on one of his visits to Michigan hitting golf balls at my driving range. This started a friendship that has lasted many years. I saw personally how Lori and Hope changed his focus and outlook on life.
He has been a dedicated husband and father, and it saddens my family so much to see him lose the love of his life. Joe and Hope will forge through this challenge, because that is what North's do.
Lori was the only person who could take a dedicated bachelor with a "cat condo" and turn him into a dog lover.
With love.

Lori was my cousin - her father George was my mother Ruth's brother. Although we lived across the country from each other, I remember Lori from family gatherings and always enjoyed meeting up with her. My heartfelt condolences to her family.

Dear, Joe, Hope & Raleigh. I feel so proud to say that I was Lori's friend, truly one of a kind. She treated me and my family like her family from the moment we met when I first moved here to SC. She opened her heart and her home and I felt like I had known her for a lifetime. I always looked forward to seeing her bring her babies in, she brightened my work day, and for as much as I would try to help her find homes for the shelter babies, it doesn't compare to all the good she did for them and anyone else that knew her. I will miss her more than words can say and I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers. Love, Deanna (Stewart family) John, Brooke, Katie & Lane
