Obituary of Horace E. Warren

Horace E. Warren COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Horace Eugene Warren, 84, of Columbia, SC, will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at West Side Baptist Church, West Columbia, with the Reverend Clint Lawyer officiating. Burial will follow in West Side Church Cemetery on Delree Street. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 4, from 1-2:00 p.m. at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. Mr. Warren died on July 31, 2013 at Agape Senior, West Columbia, SC. He was born in Newberry County, SC on August 6, 1928, to the late Pollard Warren and Irene Bedenbaugh Warren. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1950 until 1952 in the Korean War. He suffered injuries while in combat and received the Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Warren was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Columbia, SC in management. He retired in 1988 and enjoyed Clemson football, time spent at the S.C. coast and Lake Murray, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Mr. Warren was a member of West Side Baptist Church for over 45 years. He loved his church family and worked in many capacities, serving as Deacon, substitute Sunday School Teacher and also served on numerous committees. He also did volunteer work with God's Helping Hands and Meals on Wheels. Mr. Warren was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Vivian Elizabeth Thompson Warren, of Columbia. He is survived by his son and daughter -in-law, Keith Alan Warren and Mary Ellen Brewster Warren, granddaughters, Lindsay Elizabeth Warren and Nicole Ellen Warren all of Columbia; brother and sister-in-law, George Edward Warren and Nancy Roach Warren of Newberry; special cousins James W. Morgan and Earline Morgan of Pelzer, extended family and many friends who will remember him fondly.
