Obituary of Donald Turner Parker

EASTOVER—Mr. Donald Turner Parker, 83, formerly of Eastover died Saturday, August 3, 2013 in Marshall County, Mississippi. The funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013 in the Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home with Reverend David M. Sturgeon officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, 806 Universal Drive, Columbia, SC 29209. Born in Benton County, Mississippi on January 19, 1930, he was the son of the late John Turner Parker and Sara Ann Wright Parker. He proudly and honorably served his county in the US Army. Mr. Parker was a member of the Temple Baptist Church. He loved to build bird houses and feed the birds that came to his yard; he boarded dogs and trained Labradors. Surviving are his step-son, Wilbert Goff (Terry); daughter-in-law, Frances Goff, sisters, Betty smith of South Haven, Mississippi, Dorthea Darrett of Horn Lake, Mississippi; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Lillian Peake Parker, step-son, Isaac Haynes Goff and sister, Julia Thornwell.
