Obituary of Dorothy Kinney Redding

Dorothy "Dot" Kinney Redding Hopkins, SC Dorothy "Dot" Kinney Redding, the loving and devoted wife of Dallas L. Redding for 72 years, went to Heaven to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at The Palmettos Assisted Living in Columbia, SC. "Dot" as she was affectionately called by her family and friends was born on October 15, 1920 in Franklinville, NC to the late Theodore and Leona Kinney. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Janet Parham, George Kinney, and Melvin Kinney. Mrs. Redding served her country proudly in the United States Army as Ward Master of the post-op surgical ward at Ft. McClellan, Alabama during World War II. "Dot" is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Reverend Dallas L. Redding; her son, Douglas L. (Lynnie) Redding of Hopkins, SC; a grandson, Chad (Mandi) Redding and great-grandchildren, Brilyn and Braxton Redding of Lexington, SC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. A funeral service celebrating the life of "Dot" will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church, 806 Universal Drive, Columbia, SC with military honors and interment to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church Building or Music Fund in "Dot's" memory.
