Obituary of Norma Young Whetstone

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Norma Young Whetstone, 92, of West Columbia, will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in Celestial Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Rev. John Young will officiate. Pallbearers will be Steven Whetstone, Mark Whetstone, George Robert Young, Raymond O'Neal, Harry Quattlebaum and Billy Quattlebaum. The family will greet friends from 11-12 a.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Mrs. Whetstone, beloved wife of 48 years to the late C.L. Whetstone passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013. Born in Aiken County near Salley, SC, she was the daughter of the late Leward Hiram Young, Sr. and Iola Poole Young. She was lifetime area resident and a member of Line Street Baptist. Norma retired after 40 years from Stone Manufacturing. Surviving are her sons, Cecil O. Whetstone (Sylvia) of Columbia and Don Whetstone (Betty) of West Columbia; grandchildren, Mark Whetstone (Dawn), Jennifer Kohn (Thomas) and Steven Whetstone (Jennifer); four great-grandchildren; sisters, Iris Lake of Ocala, FL and Myrtle Quattlebaum of Blackville, SC; brother, L.H. Young, Jr. of Salley, SC. She was preceded in death by three brothers.
