Obituary of John W. Sturkie

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for John W. Sturkie, 41, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Rev. Johnny Slice will officiate. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Sturkie passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013. Born in Columbia, he was a son of Wanda Horne Sturkie and the late Homer W. Sturkie, Jr. He was a member of Lake Wateree Baptist Church in Ridgeway. Surviving in addition to his mother, Wanda Sturkie of West Columbia; brother, Robert W. Sturkie (Christine) of West Columbia; nephews, Robert W. Sturkie, Jr. and Stephen Skacall of West Columbia; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins that he loved very much.
