Obituary of Raymond H. Wilson

GASTON—Funeral services for Raymond H. Wilson, 85, of Gaston, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Gaston. Officiating will be Dr. Larry Harrison Rev. Bill Pauling. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Brown, Duane Johnson, Allen Ott, David Rish, Glen Pound, Terry Pound and Ed Boldt. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Men Sunday School Class. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Gaston, 121 Oakey Springs Drive, Gaston, SC 29053 in Raymond's honor. Mr. Wilson, beloved husband of 64 years, Dorothy Elizabeth Bachman Wilson. Born in Acton, ME, he was a son of the late Harland Hayden Wilson and Elizabeth Wilson. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaston and Gaston Masonic Lodge. Raymond was proud to be a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He retired from Carolina Eastman after 21 years of service. Surviving are his daughter, Dorothy Elizabeth Spires of Gaston; sons, Bill Wilson (Trudy) of Martinez, GA, Calvin R. Wilson (Susan) of Franklin, NC and Rev. Buster Wilson (Elaine) of Gaston; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Aleta Littlefield of Acton, ME. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Tommy Wilson, great-grandson, Bryson Cole and a sister, Barbara L. Brink.
