Obituary of Rudolph Milton Hutto

Rudolph Milton "Rudy" Hutto, of Cayce, entered into rest Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Lexington Medical Center. Born Sunday, August 14, 1927, in Winnsboro, SC, he was raised in Swansea, and was the son of the late Crosson Cradell and Pearl (Spradley) Hutto Sharpe. A member of First Baptist Church of Cayce, Rudy was a graduate of Swansea High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served during WWII, and was the owner of Hutto Barber's Shop in Swansea. Upon retiring from the barber business, Rudy then went to work for Cool Temp Awning and Aluminum. He was a gifted and talented artist. He possessed the ability to craft just about anything, whether he was painting a picture, building a structure or sculpting clay, anything he could think of; he could create. In addition to his parents, Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, Velma McKenzie Hutto, with whom he shared a devoted and blessed union of more than 49 years. He is survived by his sister, Patricia H. Dukes (Charles); nieces and nephews, Judy Fox (Randy), Edward Dukes (Rose), Rebecca Huggins (Keith) and Paul Dukes; great nieces and nephews, Paul, Taylor, Ariel and Madison; and a close friend, George Miller. A funeral service will be held at 12 P.M. (Noon), on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Cayce, 600 Holland Avenue, Cayce, SC 29033, with Rev. Dr. Pete Cassidy officiating. The family will be receiving friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will include Edward and Paul Dukes, Keith Huggins, Charles and Walter McKenzie, Larry Blackston and Wayne Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will include Truitt Templeton, Joe Kurkenball, Speedy Burke, Joe Boyles and Leonard Wise. A private interment service will be held later. The family wishes extend a special thank you to the staff and administration at Harbor Chase Assisted Living and Memory Care of Columbia for the care, compassion and professionalism they shared with Rudy.
