Obituary of Nicholas Edward Brock

LEXINGTON—Chef Nicholas "Nick" Edward Brock, 36, died Saturday September 7, 2013. Nick was born April 12, 1977 in Midwest City Oklahoma and always considered himself a true Okie. There were three things he loved; his OU football and watching the games with his Dad, Bible study with his brother even when he had to do it over the phone because of traveling, and his nephew and niece. Nick became an Eagle Scout in 1993. He was a graduate of Lexington High School in 1995. His passion for cooking led him to Johnson and Wales in Charleston, where he graduated in 1999. He loved working in some of South Carolina's most prestigious restaurants including Magnolia's, Cypress, Blue Marlin, Summit Club and Cotton Grill. Up until his death, he worked as a traveling Chef for Holiday Touch Retirement. Nick accepted Christ in his life and was baptized in 2012 at Northside Baptist Church. Even though Nick struggled with his addiction to alcohol, he knew where his future would take him. Now, he will greet his family along with his Grandfather George Fairhart, Grandmother Jean Fairhart and Grandfather William Brock over an unbelievable meal. He is survived by his Dad and Mom Ron and Linda Brock, brother Richard Brock (Susan), nephew Will Brock, niece Hope Brock, Grandmother Sarah Brock, Uncle Tommy (Tory) Brock, Aunt Tammy (Terry) Lundy, Aunt Carol (Mark) Berenbrok, Aunt Mary Jean (Aubrey) Burroughs, Uncle David (Una) Fairhart and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Northside Baptist Church. Reverend Rocky Purvis will officiate. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Donations can be made to Mission Columbia, a mission of Northside Baptist Church, 4347 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, SC 29072.
