Obituary of Norman R. Williams

LEXINGTON—Funeral services for Norman R. Williams, 82, Lexington, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Thompson Funeral Home , Lexington Chapel. Dr. Bill Drees will officiate. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist of West Columbia, PO Box 4898, West Columbia, SC 29171. Mr. Williams, beloved husband of Alice Virginia Dorn Williams, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013. Born in West Columbia, he was a son of the late Harry Williams and Lucy Smith Williams. He was a lifetime area resident and member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia. Norman retired from Jeff Hunt/Blanchard Machinery. He was a licensed pilot and assisted SLED in search and recovery. Norman also was a volunteer fireman. He loved drag racing and was a FORD fanatic. He loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball. He was a loving and kind person and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife, Alice Williams of Lexington; daughters, Brenda Griffin (Keith) of Cayce and Robin Campbell of Pelion; sons, Wayne Williams (Debra) of Cayce and Chris Williams of Irmo; grandchildren, Richard Williams (Heather), Brannigan Williams, Jason Romanstein (Kris), Bryan Knotts (Joy), Britton Knotts and Ethan Campbell; great-grandchildren, Ricky Williams, Tanner Knotts, Kailyn Koontz, Madison Romanstein, Connor Knotts, Brenin Knotts and Jaxon Romanstein; sister, Barbara Price of West Columbia; brother, Willis Williams of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Burdelle Aull and four brothers, Ira, R.T., Joe and Wylie Williams. The family would like thank the staff at CARIS Hospice Care and the National Health Care for their kind and attentive care.
