Obituary of Kirk Edwin Thomas

LEXINGTON-Funeral services for Kirk Edwin Thomas, 71, of Lexington, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The Reverend Rick Shealy will officiate. Burial will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 12 noon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the VFW Foundation, 406 West 34th Street, Ste. 514, Kansas City, MO, 64111. Mr. Thomas died Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Born in Brawley, CA, he was the son of the late Clarence and Joe Edith Price Thomas. He was a member and past Deacon of Kittiwake Baptist Church. He had retired from the United States Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. He was also a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the United States Pentagon. He greatly enjoyed crossword puzzles, sports, history and most of all his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda H. Thomas of Lexington; daughters, Kelly Beaver (Frank) of Ft. Collins, CO and Terri Anderson (Reggie) of Lexington; and two grandsons, Joshua and Justin Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lemoyne Thomas.
