Obituary of Joseph William Heape

LEXINGTON—Funeral services for Joseph "Joey" William Heape, 52, of Lexington will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Pastor David Kiel will officiate. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Heape, beloved husband of Leisa Davis Heape, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Born in Orangeburg, he was the son of Frank Heape and Joan Smith Heape. He was a lifelong area resident and previously attended Faith Lutheran Church. He was a 1979 graduate of Airport High School and a 1985 graduate of USC with a Bachelor's Degree in Media Arts and was employed as Director of Media & Technology for the South Carolina Bar. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling. Joey was technologically and musically inclined especially gifted on the guitar. But above all loved his family and his family truly loved him. He will be dearly missed by all his friends, family and his cat, "Rocco". Surviving in addition to his parents, Frank and Joan Heape; wife, Leisa Heape and his sons, Joshua and Zachary Heape.
