Obituary of Marian Madden Evans

COLUMBIA—A graveside service for Marian Madden Evans, 85, of Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The Reverend Phillip Gerrald will officiate. Memorial may be made to the South Carolina Heart Center, 2001 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC 29204. Mrs. Evans passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late George Bright Madden and Vivian Hadden Madden. A lifelong resident of Columbia and a graduate of Dreher High School, she was a longtime member of the North Trenholm Baptist Church where she was a member of the Bill Donahue Sunday School Class. Marian worked in the Accounting and Finance Dept. at Ft. Jackson for 35 years. After her retirement, she volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels and with Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Evans enjoyed square dancing. Surviving are her sons, B. Grigg Jenkins and wife, Linda of West Columbia and Gary S. Jenkins and wife, Susan K. of Irmo; step-daughter, Mary Evans Clarkson of Aiken; sister, Betty Moore of Columbia; brother, Bill Madden and wife, Dottie of Gilbert; grandchildren, Scott Jenkins, Brian Jenkins and wife, Alyson, Ashley Jenkins and Caitlin Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Hannah Garvin and Gavin Jenkins. She was preceded her in death by her late husband of 34 years, H. Frank Evans. The family of Mrs. Marian M.
