Obituary of MSGT Carl Alexander Monroe

COLUMBIA-A private graveside service celebrating the life of MSgt Carl Alexander Monroe, Jr. (Ret.), 84, of Columbia will be held on Monday, September 30, 2013 in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Reverend Dr. Ellen Skidmore officiating and military honors will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, 6500 North Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29206 in Carl's memory. On-line condolences may be sent to www.Greenlawn-Columbia.com. MSgt Monroe departed this earthly life on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Eagle Springs, NC to the late Carl A. Monroe, Sr. and Minnie Belle Seawell Monroe. MSgt Monroe retired from the United States Army after 22 years of dedicated service to our country in which he received many honors. After retirement from the military, MSgt. Monroe dedicated 22 years of service to Providence Hospital and he retired as Director of Purchasing. Carl was also a faithful member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Connie Boroughs Monroe; his daughter, Cynthia K. Monroe (Warren Southerland); his son, Michael C. Monroe (Amy); two grandchildren, Lauren Powell (Matt) and Ben Monroe; a sister, Margaret Monroe; two brothers, Roland Monroe (Teenie) and Edwin Monroe (Virginia); a host of other loving relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
