Obituary of Philip Allen Goings

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Philip Allen Goings, 56, of West Columbia, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Pastor David Mullins and Pastor Thomas Doolittle will officiate. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Goings passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013. Born in Columbia, he was a son of Peggy E. Goings and the late Philip Benjamin Goings, Jr. He was a lifelong area resident and a member of Congaree Baptist Church. He retired from UPS as a driver, where he was a member of the Teamsters Union. Surviving are his mother, Peggy E. Goings; sons, Joseph Goings (Michelle) of West Columbia and Benjamin Adam Goings (Amanda) of Lexington; five grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Goings, Donald Goings and Paul Goings all of West Columbia, Kenneth Goings of Lexington and Terry Goings of Blythewood.
