Obituary of Michael Garber Bailey

Michael Garber Bailey, 58, of West Columbia, entered into rest, Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Lexington Medical Center. Born Thursday, August 25, 1955 in Eaton Rapids, MI he was a son of the late Melvin L. Bailey, Sr. and Mildred (McDaniel) Bailey Jennings. Mr. Bailey was a golf enthusiast and was also a veteran of the United States Army, Coast Guard and Army Reserve, who actively served during Desert Storm. Following his military service, Mr. Bailey was employed for 17 years as a letter carrier in Augusta, GA with the US Post Office. He is survived by his wife of ten years, Doris (McBride) Bailey; three daughters, Susan and Sherry Bailey, and Michelle Amerson; son Kevin Bailey; three brothers, Patrick Travis, Melvin, Jr., and Marvin Bailey; eight grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M., on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. A graveside service, with procession from the funeral home, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 7, 2013 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia SC 29229.
