Obituary of Amelia H. Smith

WEST COLUMBIA—Memorial service for Mary Amelia House Smith, 72, of West Columbia, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Saluda River Baptist Church. Dr. Charles Westbrook will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Memorials may be made to Saluda River Baptist Church, Family Life Building Fund, 3459 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Smith, beloved wife of 50 years to Lanny Smith, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Born in Georgetown, GA, she was a daughter of Raymond Fielder House, Sr., and Mary Ola Graddy House. She was a longtime area resident and retired as Office Manager for Marty Rae's Interiors after 27 years of service at both the Orangeburg and Lexington locations. She was a member of Saluda River Baptist Church, a supporter of USC Athletics and a faithful member of the Gamecock Club for 47 years. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and sister who touched the lives of all she knew. Surviving in addition to her husband, Frank L. Smith, Jr.; daughter, Lynn Smith Turner (Paul) of Benson, NC; son, Frank L. Smith III (Karen) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Ryne and Amelia Faith Turner, Lander, Harrison and Elizabeth Grace Smith; brothers, Raymond F. House, Jr. of West Columbia, SC and Jimmy House (Jody) of West Columbia, SC along with a large and loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Laverne H. Hallman. The family would like to thank the staff of South Carolina Oncology Associates for their compassionate care of Amelia.
