Obituary of Irene Slice Snelgrove

WEST COLUMBIA—Graveside service for Irene Slice Snelgrove, 87, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2013 in Southland Memorial Gardens. Pastor Brandon Sandifer will officiate. The family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Palmetto Health Home Services, 5 Richland Medical Park Drive, Columbia, SC 29203 or Tri-County Hospice, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Ste. 100, Columbia, SC 29210 or Carroll Campbell Place at Lexington Extended Care, 802 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Mrs. Snelgrove, beloved wife of 47 years to the late Eli Cleveland Snelgrove, Jr., passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013. Born in Chapin on June 8, 1926, she was a daughter of the late T. Jonas Slice and Lilla Shealy Slice. She was lifelong area resident and a member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister who enjoyed taking care of her large and loving family. She will be dearly missed. Surviving are her sons, Ralph C. Snelgrove (Emma) of West Columbia, Kenny Snelgrove (Renee) of Columbia and Russell Snelgrove (Lisa) of West Columbia; two grandchildren, Micheal Snelgrove (Jenny Page) and Jason Snelgrove (LeAnne); eight step-grandchildren, Cheryl Austin (Danny), Chuck Lundy (Paula), Barry Lundy (Billie), Ricky Lundy (Nancy), Gary Lundy (Kristie), Jimi Rabon, Kari Morrison and Mary Catherine Morrison; nine step-great-grandchildren, Jennifer Lundy, David Lundy, Mackenzie Arrowood, Harley Rabon, Madison Lundy, Connor Lundy, Brad Lundy, Jeff Lundy and Emily Lundy; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Tayeson Bowers and Brynlee Stallings; sisters, Cecile Sealey of West Columbia and Frances Derrick of Chapin. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Elberta Livingston, Cleo Senn, Doll Crapps, Polly Shealy and Sara Snelgrove; six brothers, Bailey Slice, Ansel Slice, Norris Slice, Milford Slice, Dekie Slice and Edward Slice and one step-great-grandchild, April Shaw.
