Obituary of Margie Elizabeth Martin Anderson

WEST COLUMBIA—Margie Elizabeth Martin Anderson joined her husband Henry and daughter Cindy in heaven on October 3, 2013. Born July 12, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Mason and Agnes Rose Martin. She spent many years working in sales at Tapp's department store on Main St. in Columbia, and Howard's department store in Parkland Plaza in Cayce. She enjoyed the people she worked with and those who came in as customers and left as friends. Henry and Margie were married on June 12, 1948 and enjoyed 59 years together. They spent their working life in the West Columbia area. After both retired, they moved to Lake Murray until returning to West Columbia in 2001. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law H. Barry and Cindi Anderson; Son-in-law Andy Baker; grandchildren, Kimberly Rippy (Terry), Stephanie Vernon, Jennifer Baker, Lauren Swicegood (Josh), and Steven Anderson; great-grandchildren, Hannah Rippy, Jackson Rippy, Dylan Shaw, Brayden Vernon, Mora Vernon, Tyson Thompson, and Ava Swicegood; brother, Buck Martin. The family is most appreciative for the love and care shown to mother and us by the staffs of Myrtle Beach Estates and Lexington Gardens during her time at their communities, and to United Hospice and Uni-Health during her last days. A service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Springdale Baptist Church. Reverend Tommy McGill will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Springdale Baptist Church building fund, 357 Wattling Rd., West Columbia, SC 29170.
