Obituary of Mildred N. Keeler

Mildred (Norton) Keeler, 90, of Columbia entered into rest, Friday, October 18, 2013 at Palmetto Health Richland. Born Thursday, August 9, 1923 in Andrews, SC, she was a daughter of the late Chandler and Harriet Susan (Stalvey) Norton. She had graduated high school in Andrews, SC and attended the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Keeler was extremely proud of her large and loving family. Mrs. Keeler was a member of the Richland County Public Library book club and was an art enthusiast. She loved to travel and decorate her home. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Keeler was preceded in death by her husband of more than 35 years, Joseph I. Keeler; former superintendent of Columbia City Water Plant, where he worked for more than 40 years. She is survived by four children, Susan Edell (George), Dianne Keeler, Jim Keeler (Daryl) and Joe Keeler (Penny); sisters, Bessie Olinger and Eva Ward; brother, J.B. Norton; nine grandchildren, Lisa, Hazel, Mary, Tyson, Joseph, Christine, Elena, Jana and Tera; 7 great grandchildren; and 6 nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 12 P.M. (Noon) in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbot Drive, Ste. 301, Cayce, SC 29033.
