Obituary of Bettye Lee Robinson

EASTOVER—Bettye Lee Grooms Robinson, daughter of the late Sanko and Francis Clines Grooms of Eastover, South Carolina was born January 13, 1927 in Richland County. She departed this physical life and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at her home. Bettye attended the public schools of Richland County and later enrolled in and took classes at a Vocational School in Richland County. Bettye was baptized and became a member of Progressive Church and was a member for 50+ years. She served as a member of the women auxiliary and the pulpit committee. She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family. Bettye was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Jim Robinson. God blessed them with six boys and one girl. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Grooms, Henry Grooms, and Raymond Grooms; and three sisters, Eloise Watson, Edith Miller, and Margaret Roberts; and a son, Jimmy Robinson. She is survived by a daughter, Mildred Robinson of Eastover, SC; sons, James Robinson (Dorothy) of Lugoff, SC, Marion Robinson (Gloria) of Eastover, SC, Bennie Robinson (Barbara) of Lugoff SC, Kenneth Robinson (Daisy) of Lugoff, SC and Curtis Robinson of Eastover, SC; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Robinson; brother-in-law, Joe Miller; twelve grandchildren, Ala, Uri, Sanko, Owini, Kelley, Tia, April, Melainie, Everette, Marcia and Dana; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, relative and friends. Funeral services for Bettye Lee Robinson will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Progressive Church of Our Lord. Bishop Theodore Jenkins and Elder Thomas Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, Columbia, SC. We, the family of the late Bettye Lee Grooms Robinson, wish to thank our many family members, friends and the Progressive Church family for the wonderful acts of love and kindness in our time of need.
