Obituary of Betty Jo Timmons

Betty Jo Timmons, 66, of Columbia, entered into rest, Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Palmetto Health Richland. Born Monday, April 28, 1947 in Inez, KY, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Helen Juanita (Munsey) Maynard. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Kentucky, but was later baptized into the Baptist faith while living in Parkersburg, WV. Betty Jo was proud to be a veteran's spouse, and even received many awards from commanding officers for not only the support she showed her husband, but to his comrades as well. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Dale "Johnny" Maynard and a sister, Dreama Lee Fisher (Eddie). Betty Jo is survived by her husband, Walter Timmons, with whom she shared a union of more than 40 years; son, Bobby Gene Maynard; one sister, Margaret Ann Helmick (Melvin); granddaughters, Amanda Jeanne Haynes (Mathew) and Sara Caitlin Vilchez (Jesus Arturo); as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. A committal service will immediately follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Reverend Dennis Banks officiating.
