Obituary of Sara Melcher Pichey

GASTON-Funeral service for Sara Melcher Pichey, 72, of Gaston, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. Reverend Arthur Gayton will officiate. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kirt Pichey, Jr., Justin Pichey, Andrew Phillips, Harley Phillips, Chris Phillips and James Waters. Memorials may be made to Helping Hands Adult Day Center, 2010 State Street, Cayce, SC 29033. Ms. Pichey died Monday, November 18, 2013. Born in Lockport, New York, she was a daughter of the late Merle and Margaret Boots Melcher. She was a member of Truth Baptist Church and had retired from Shakespeare. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her daughters, Paula Freeman (Martin) and Lisa Phillips (David) all of Gaston and Rebecca Patterson (Melton) of Midland, TX; sons, Kirt Pichey, Sr. (Kasey), Paul Pichey, Jr. (Ashley) and Richard Pichey all of Gaston; sister, Jean Page of Niagara Falls, NY; brother, Bill Melcher of NY; 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Kittrell; grandson, Landon Addyman; and a number of brothers and sisters.
