Obituary of Mark B. Ryan

COLUMBIA—A memorial service for Mark Boettger Ryan, 55, of Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road. Chaplain Paul St. John will officiate. Memorials may be made to The Mark B. Ryan Children's' Trust, c/o Michael Ryan, 3027 Farm Walk Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598. Mr. Ryan passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013. Born in Denville Twp., NJ, he was a son of Joseph B. Ryan and Carolyne Aitcheson Ryan. He was a graduate of Greenwich High School, Greenwich, CT and attended Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach. Mark was a Volunteer firefighter, an EMT, and an active Investigator with the Richland County Sheriff's Department during the last 5 years. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 20 years. He was a very dedicated father to his three children. Surviving in addition to his parents, Joseph and Carolyne Ryan; daughters, Kelly Ryan, Jennifer Ryan and Cassidy Ryan; sister, Cynthia Ryan; brothers, Thomas Ryan and Michael Ryan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Ryan. "In memory of him, please thank a Richland County Sheriff's Deputy in the name of Mark Ryan."
