Obituary of Donnie Ray Bass

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Donnie Ray Bass, 66, of West Columbia, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 at West Columbia First Church of the Nazarene on Wattling Road. Pastor Bill Harmon will officiate. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Mr. Bass, beloved husband of Evelyn McAbee, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Born in Blythewood, he was a son of the late Ivey Bass and Lannie Elizabeth Branham Bass. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 40 years, Evelyn Bass of West Columbia; children, Charles McAbee of Cayce, Joyce A. Yarbrough (Mike) of West Columbia and Timmy McAbee of West Columbia; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Lillie Mae Brown, Esther Thomas (Frank), Rebecca Gunter (Danny), Sylvia Browning (Roger); brother, Larry Bass (Eunice) of Sabetha, KS; along with a large and loving extended family. He was preceded in death by brothers, Talmadge Bass, Calvin Bass, Melvin Bass, Michael Bass and Jerry Bass.
