Obituary of Alice Rebecca Delk Ray

EST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Alice Rebecca Delk Ray, 86, of West Columbia, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Pastor John McKeown will officiate. Burial will follow in West Side Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the funeral home. Mrs. Ray, beloved wife of the late, Charles Edward "Pappy" Ray, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Born in Barnwell County, she was a daughter of the late Eugene Kelly Delk and Frances May Still Delk. She was a longtime member of West Side Baptist Church. Alice was an employee of Belk Department Store with many years of devoted service. Surviving are her sons, Charles D. Ray (Janette) and Gene Ray; grandchildren, Charles Jason Ray (Tracy) and Joni Catherine Ray; great-grandchildren, Cayla Grace Ray, Violet Theresa Ray, Charles Emmet Ray, Tyler Ray Patrick and Ava Catherine Brown; sisters, Margaret Howard and Frances Webb as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Charles Edward "Pappy" Ray; brothers, Martin Dyches Delk and Harvey Isaac Delk.
