Obituary of Robert Soland

CHAPIN—A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at First Church of God, 2665 Covenant Road, Columbia, SC. Reverend Richard Rusnak and Reverend David Dooley will officiate. The family will greet friends from 12-1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 has assisted the family. Mr. Soland, beloved husband of Karen Michele Mills Soland, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013. Born in Butler, PA, he was a son of Robert Dale Soland II and Eleanor Jean Beck Carver. He was a member of the Iron Riders Motorcycle Club and had worked as a mechanic at Champion Automotive for many years before becoming disabled; he also served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of First Church of God. Surviving in addition to his wife, K. Michele Mills Soland of Chapin; parents, Robert Dale Soland II (Mary) of Texas and Eleanor Jean Beck Carver of Oklahoma; step-daughter, Alexandria "Xan" Fay of Chapin; son, Cloudy James "C.J." Soland of Elgin; brother, Ernest John Soland (Cathy) of California; father and mother-in-law, Gene and Betty Mills of Chapin; as well as family pets, Shadow and Denay. He was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Waldo Soland. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Church of God Building Fund, 2665 Covenant Road, Columbia, SC 29204-2237 or Fallen Riders Memorial Fund of South Carolina at any Wells Fargo Bank.
