Obituary of Sara Ruth Ridley

GREENVILLE—Sara Ruth (Boots) Johnson Ridley began her eternal rest in Jesus' arms Friday morning, December 27, 2013 after a brief illness. Mrs. Ridley was a lifelong resident of Greenville having worked prior to retirement in the textile mills. She was a member of City View Baptist Church. Her parents were the late William A. Johnson and the late Sadie Cooksey Johnson, both residents of Greenville. She was 90 years old. She enjoyed crafts most especially knitting her famous dish cloths and spending time with family and friends. Boots will be fondly remembered for her quick smile, free spirit and quirky way with words. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lavern Ridley; brothers, Harold Johnson, Fred Johnson, Gerald Johnson, James Johnson; sister, Hazel Johnson Walker. Mrs. Ridley is survived by her sister, Bobbie Johnson Ellis of Simpsonville and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Join us for a memorial service at City View First Baptist Church on Monday, December 30 at 2:00 p.m. to celebrate her life. Visitation will be immediately following.
