Obituary of Bobby Joe Hammond

WEST COLUMBIA—A graveside service for Bobby Joe Hammond 81, of West Columbia will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Reverend Donald Jeffcoat and Reverend Stephen Tyler will be officiating. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 141 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210 or Galilean Baptist Church, 124 Lisa Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. Mr. Hammond, beloved husband of Ida Drucilla Wolfe Hammond, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013. Born in Nichols, he was a son of the late Fentress Hammond and Eva Mae Williams Hammond. Bobby was a member of Galilean Baptist Church. He was proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Air Force. Mr. Hammond retired from Investor's Heritage Insurance Corp. Surviving in addition to his wife, Ida Hammond of West Columbia,; daughter Julia Ann Nagle (T.J.) of Poway, CA; son, Joel David Hammond (Amber) of Lexington; one grandson, David Paul Hammond; sister, Betty Tyler (Ronald) of Galivants Ferry. He was preceded in death by a sister, Molly Hamer and a brother, Aaron Hammond.
