Obituary of David Scott James

CAYCE—Funeral services for David Scott James, 57, Cayce will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Reverend Joseph James will be officiating. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. James, beloved husband of Vera Searles James, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014. Born in Chester, PA he was a son of Florence Heilbron James and the late Robert James III. He grew up in Springfield, PA and was a graduate of Springfield High School where he was on the Wresting Team. He continued his education at West Chester State College prior to his move to Columbia in 1977 to help his family manage the Dunkin Donut Shop in Boozer Shopping Center. He served on the Lexington County Council from 1994-2002 and was a member of the West Metro Chamber of Commerce. He also worked with Remax Real Estate Services and achieved the Real Estate Circle of Excellence Award. Surviving in addition to his wife of 12 years, Vera Searles James of Cayce; mother, Florence H. James of Fairview, TX; step-daughter, Janna Hutto of Hendersonville, NC; sister, Virginia James Oldham (James) of Plano, TX;, Robert James IV (Diane) of Lakewood, CO; step-grandson, Evan Lyda; two nephews and five great-nieces and nephews.
