Obituary of Robert Glenn Stokes

WEST COLUMBIA—Robert Glenn Stokes, Jr., 47, of West Columbia, SC, went to be with the Lord, Monday, January 6, 2014. Rob was born March 9, 1966, in Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of Bob and Judy Stokes. He graduated from Middleburg High School in Florida. Soon after graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Sherry Reams. He went to work for WW Gay Mechanical, where he was employed for 10 years. He later relocated his family to Lexington, SC, where he was employed with Fisher-Tank Company for 18 years as a project manager and construction manager. During this time, he was a Boy Scout Leader with Troop #331, for his son, Cory. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Sherry Ann Stokes; son, Cory Stokes (Marilyn); daughter, Kara Stokes; parents, Bob and Judy Stokes; brothers, Todd, Matt, Rory and Adam Stokes (Lori); nephews, Jared, Dylan, Brent and Chad Stokes; expectant granddaughter, Caylee Marie Stokes. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Lexington Baptist Church, 308 E. Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072. Rev. Dr. Mike Turner and Pastor Jack Whitlow will officiate. The family will greet friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 will be assisting the family.
