Obituary of Martin Lewis Brown

ST. Matthews—Funeral service for Martin Lewis Brown, 66, of St. Matthews, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Pineview Baptist Church. Pastor Brandon Sandifer will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Memorial may be made to Pineview Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3010 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Brown, beloved husband of Hattie Eichelberger Brown, passed away on Sunday, January12, 2014. Born in Columbia, he was a son of Martin F. Brown and the late Miriam Cromer Brown. He was a lifetime area resident and a 1965 graduate of BC High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Over the course of his life, he was a devoted and active member of Pineview Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years, of the "Couples " Sunday School Class, Deacon, Director of Discipleship Training, Chairman of Nominating Committee, Chairman of Personnel Committee, Outreach Director, and Member of Finance Committee and of the Building Committee. Mr. Brown retired from Guaranteed Supply. He loved his entire family. Surviving in addition to his wife, Hattie Brown; daughter, Sherri Coffey (T) and son, Michael Brown (Rhonda); step-daughter, Erin Sharpe; step-son Mark Eichelberger (Cristina Tucker); sister, Angela Willis (Steve); brothers, Nathan Brown (Barbara), Jeff Brown (Tram), Anthony Brown (Cathy); grandchildren; TJ Coffey (Courtney Gammons), Justin Coffey (Jessica), Julie Coffey, Cameron Swygert USAF, Jenna Brown and Conner Brown, Zachary Sharpe and Natalie Sharpe; great-grandchildren, Skylar McKeown and Layla Coffey also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his mother, first wife, Rachel Brown, and daughter, Erika Brown.
