Obituary of Dorothy Chavis Bolin

West Columbia—Funeral services for Dorothy Chavis Bolin, 86, West Columbia, will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia Chapel, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC, 29169. Reverend Dr. B. Clayton Shumpert will be officiating. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., Ste. 100, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Bolin, beloved wife of 50 plus years to the late Jesse (John) R. Bolin, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Born in North, SC, she was a daughter of the late Alfred Chavis and Julia Chavis. She was a lifetime area resident and a faithful member of Taylor Street and Gantt Street Baptist Churches. She loved flowers and Christian music and enjoyed needlework. She also enjoyed her Sunday drives - every day! Surviving are her daughters, Dianne B. Baughman (James) of Columbia and Miriam B. Self (Lamar) of West Columbia; son, Daniel Bolin (Barbara) of Sandy Run; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to say thank you for the excellent care Mrs. Bolin received from the staff at Oakleaf Village of Lexington and NHC in West Columbia.
