Uncle Leroy was my grandfather's brother. My grandfather was William and my mother is Martha (Marty Vest) Teves.
I remember the first and only time I went to Uncle Leroy's house. He was SO particular about everything. I loved it. Everything had a place and everything was in its place. It was not too much, but just right. He seemed to be a collector. He had memories up on his wall of the things that meant the most to him it seemed; his military service and his family. He was our Vest family historian. We talked and laughed and shared stories, he told me all about our family and showed me all his work on the things he'd collected for our family history as well as the lengths he had gone to find them.
He was a facsinating man full of love and pride in all he did. He had a warm and inviting smile and a mischievious look when we'd talk about certain things. He made me LAUGH all the time. We would talk for hours sometimes over the phone. He sounded just like my grandpa.
I remember telling him that I was training for a cage match (boxing). He was confident in me, but a little worried too. He told me, "Well we just gon have to hog tie the other one!" I will NEVER forget that. I laughed so hard and made him say it again. :) He would always end the conversation with "I love you baby" ...even if it was just on my voicemail.
I love you Uncle Leroy with all my heart. I enjoyed every conversation and every moment and I will treasure them forever. Hug my grandpa and abuelita up there. Aloha from your Kaua'i 'ohana.

Uncle Leroy, I will so miss your wonderful smile, laughter, and warm heart. Although we lived so far apart, you always took the time to share your love and charming sense of humor with us all. Thank you for all that you have done for our family. God bless you and keep you in His loving arms. Marty (Vest) Teves and family
