Obituary of MSG Jose Mercedes Rodriguez

COLUMBIA-A funeral mass celebrating the life of MSG (Ret.) Jose M. Rodriguez, 90, of Columbia will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223. Full military honors and interment will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m.until 8:00p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. MSG Rodriguez departed this earthly life on Friday, January 17, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico to Jose Rodriguez and Carmen Morales. MSG Rodriguez retired from the United States Army after 23 year of dedicated service in which he served in World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. MSG Rodriguez was predeceased by his parents. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Francisca Rodriguez; daughters, Carmen Driggers (John), Luz Arpan, and Yolanda Rodriguez; sons, Jose Rodriguez (Judy) and Edwin Rodriguez (Kathy); sisters, Carmen and Margarita Rodriguez; brothers, Amalio Rodriguez (Felicita) and Luis Rodriguez (Lola); six grandchildren, Stacie, Zasha, Melissa, Alejandro, Eric, and Sarah; four great-grandchildren; and friends that will miss him dearly.
