Obituary of Angela Spires Martin

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Angela Spires Martin, 61, of West Columbia, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Reverend Douglas Self will officiate. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the funeral home. Mrs. Martin, beloved wife of David S. Martin, Sr., slipped into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Frank Spires and Joan Baughman Spires. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who put others before herself, and was the rock of her family. She was thoughtful and caring and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Surviving in addition to her loving husband of 47 years, David S. Martin, Sr. of West Columbia; son, David S. Martin, Jr. (Leslie) of West Columbia; special grandson, Joel; brothers, Charles Spires, Sr. of Gilbert, Louis Spires, Sr. (Polly) of Leesville and Paul Spires of Columbia; along with many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lonnie Spires.
