Obituary of Joe David Donahue

LEXINGTON—Funeral services for Joe David Donahue III, 69, of Lexington, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Shiloh United Methodist Church. Reverend Matt Rucker will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Eargle, Ricky Donahue, Roy Donahue, Mark Geddings, Richard Lee and Al Arnette. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 546 Gardners Terrace Road, West Columbia, SC 29172. Mr. Donahue, beloved husband of 50 years to the late Barbara June Donahue, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Born in Hampton County, SC he was a son of the late Joe David Donahue II and Bessie Lee Benton Donahue. Since childhood, he was a loyal member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Cayce Moose Lodge #462. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who was devoted to his family and his church. Surviving are his daughter, Bobbie D. Burton (Leslie) of Angleton, TX; son, Karl David Donahue (Jeanie) of Lexington; five grandchildren, Joe Cory Donahue (Stephanie), Brandon Lee Burton, Kimberlyn Denise Donahue, Stephanie Donahue Jackson (Toby) and Ashleigh Breanna Donahue; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Joanne Eargle (Francis) of West Columbia, Sara Glenn (Tommy) of Gaston, Dorothy Mills (Waylan) of St. Matthews; brothers, David Manuel Donahue (Carol) of Elgin, Jimmy Donahue (Ann) of Hopkins, Albert Donahue of Gilbert, Ronnie Donahue (Laurie) of Columbia and Rod Donahue of Columbia; along with many loving nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother, Louis Donahue and a sister, Louise Donahue.
