Obituary of Julia Arledge Ritchie

LEXINGTON--Julia Ritchie, 88, wife of Rudy Ritchie Sr., died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Lexington Hospital. Born in the Olympia area of Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Carrie Arledge. Mrs. Ritchie had retired from Civil Service at Ft. Jackson and had also helped run a small business owned by her husband. Surviving are her husband of 71 years; two sons, Robert Mackey in Lexington and Rudy Jr. in Tampa, FL. Julia was blessed with five grandchildren, Matthew (Lexington), Rudy III (Charleston), Tori (Myrtle Beach) Bobby, Jr. (Atlanta) and Lindsey (Atlanta). She also is survived by two great-grandchildren Cade and Bentley. Julia was predeceased by another son, Winston Michael from Columbia and four sisters, Lucille, Margie, Blondell, and Elsie. Services will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Visitation with the family will be from noon to 1p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of Lexington Medical Center for the care provided to Julia.
