Obituary of Ruby Chesser

ST. Matthews—Funeral services for Ruby L. Chesser, 91, of St. Matthews, will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Reverend Henry Cooper will officiate. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 11-12 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Chesser, beloved wife of the late Rubin Chesser, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Born in St. Matthews, she was a daughter of the late Dotsie Lee Rast and Canzeada Crider Rast. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in St. Matthew. Ruby retired from Stone Manufacturing Company after 32 years of service. She loved to cook for her family and friends; she also enjoyed watching her grandchildren. Ruby was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed. Surviving are her daughters, Louise Skinner (Leon) of Lexington and Hattie Brown of St. Matthews; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; along with many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Sallie Wilson, two brothers, four sisters, a grandson, Tony Eichelberger and three sons-in-law.
