Obituary of Percy Jeffcoat

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Percy Jeffcoat, 93, of West Columbia, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Jeffcoat, beloved husband of the late Mamie Lou Jeffcoat, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Born in Neeses, he was a son of the late Albert Jeffcoat and Cora Hutto Jeffcoat. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII as a gunners mate. After 38 years of loyal service he retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of the Railroad Retirement Club and an avid Gamecock Football and Baseball fan. Surviving are his sons, Jerry Jeffcoat (Patricia) of West Columbia, Donald Jeffcoat (Lynn) of Columbia and Wayne Jeffcoat (Karen) of Irmo; nine grandchildren,, Shannon Holcombe, Ty Jeffcoat, Mark Jeffcoat, Adam Jeffcoat, Kelli Hass, Paige Stiles, Kyle Jeffcoat, Karey Jeffcoat and Kaylee Jeffcoat; twelve great grandchildren; sister, Mary Brown of Springfield; brothers, Heyward Jeffcoat of Neeses and Albert Jeffcoat of Cordova. The family would like to especially thank all the doctors and nurses at Palmetto Health Richland Trauma Unit.
