Obituary of Jonathan Reynolds Shedd

WEST COLUMBIA—A memorial service for Jonathan Reynolds Shedd, Jr. 89, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Cayce United Methodist Church. Reverend Joseph James will officiate. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 is assisting the family. Mr. Shedd, beloved husband of Mary Shedd, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Jonathan Reynolds Shedd, Sr. and Ada Jewel Sapp Shedd. He was an active and dedicated member of Cayce United Methodist Church and proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from Piggly-Wiggly of the Carolinas. Jonathan was an avid Gamecock supporter and attended USC prior to being drafted during WWII. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Shedd of West Columbia; daughters, Mary Jo Tindall (Bob) of Columbia, Jenny Wichmann (Steve) of Summerville and Laurie deMoya (David) of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Tracy Hayes (Mark) of Culpepper, VA, Robbie Tindall (Candler) of Matthews, NC, Marnie Melton (Jimmy) of Camden, SC, Troy Wichmann (Tina) of Piedmont, SC, Carla Shealy (Ross) of Cayce, SC, Zach deMoya and Lexie deMoya of Lexington and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cayce United Methodist Church, 1600 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033.
