Obituary of Fred Michael McFarland

WEST COLUMBIA—Fred Michael McFarland, 61, of West Columbia, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014. Born in Hartsville, he was the son of the late Laurie H. McFarland and Mamie Elise Perkins McFarland. He worked as a carpenter in construction and was a cabinet maker his whole life. He enjoyed fishing and was a gifted artist. Surviving are his daughter Amanda McFarland of Birmingham, AL; grandchild, Alaina McFarland; sisters, Dorothy M. Peacock of West Columbia and Mary Ann Wilhoit of Lexington; brother, Douglas C. McFarland of Ridgeway along with a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Hope McFarland; three brothers, James, William and Carl Don McFarland; sister, Linda Windburn. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 is assisting the family.
