Obituary of Elizabeth Ellison Martin

CAYCE—Funeral services for Elizabeth Ellison Martin, 94, of Cayce, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014 at State Street Baptist Church. Reverend Nathan Brown will officiate. The family will greet friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and the family will receive friends at the family home. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 will assist the family. Mrs. Martin, beloved wife of 48 years to the late Milford Edward Martin, left her earthly body to join her husband and siblings in Heaven on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Fred P. Ellison and Nettie Suber Ellison. She was a charter member of State Street Baptist Church and a 1937 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School where she lettered in Basketball and Track. She worked for and retired from Shull Sausage Company in Lexington. She enjoyed traveling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who cared deeply for her family. Surviving are her daughter, Martha Reynolds (Beverly Hobby) of Pelion; grandchildren, Sandra Meetze (Kimberly) of Cayce, Christopher Mark Reynolds (Meredith) of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Martinez (Adan), Owen Reynolds (expecting another granddaughter), Ashleigh Rainwater (Ryan), Evan Vermullen; great-great-grandchildren, Haileigh and Nicholas. She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society in memory of Milford E. Martin, 107 Westpark Blvd, Ste. 150, Columbia, SC 29210.
