Obituary of Irene B. Ward

WEST COLUMBIA-Irene B. Ward passed away on February 28, 2014 at Jenni Lynn Assisted Care Facility. Born on March 16, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John Haskell and Edna Bedenbaugh Bundrick. She was a long time resident of West Columbia. Irene was an active Christian, an avid quilter, a seamstress, homemaker and known to all as an excellent cook. Irene assisted those in the community and volunteered in many local programs. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, I.D. Ward and her daughter, Janice Ward. She is survived by her son, Michael (Laurie) Ward; her daughter, Carol Ward; her brother, D.L. (Mozell) Bundrick of Greenville, SC; as well as her grandchildren, Ryan, Jermey and Christy; and great-grandchildren, Kirsten and Logan. Services will be held Monday, March 3, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. The burial will be private. In the spirit of caring for others, as Irene often did, memorials may be made to the Harvest Hope Food Bank, 2220 Shop Road, Columbia, SC 29201, in her honor in lieu of flowers.
