Obituary of Ellen Sellers

CAYCE-A graveside service for Ellen Sellers, 90, of Cayce, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 in Woodridge Memorial Park. Pastor Mark Bredholt will officiate. The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Sellers, beloved wife of the late Richard Sellers, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Born in Foyil, OK, she was the daughter of the late Ezra Maslin and Bertha Brown Maslin. Ellen was part of the "Greatest Generation" and worked as a riveter during WWII at Douglas Aircraft. She was proud of her "Rosy the Riveter" contribution to the war effort as her husband served overseas. Ellen raised her children while relocating multiple times as her husband's career took the family to live in 15 different states and often talked about a stent in Africa. Arriving in the area in 1979, the result of another company transfer they fell in love with the people and retired here. Many remember Ellen from her work at the Mill Fabric store on Knox Abbot Drive, her participation in Senior-Cise at the Leisure Center West Columbia, or Joy Club at Trinity Baptist Church. Surviving are her sons, Richard "Dick" Sellers of Punta Gorda, FL, Denis Alan Sellers of The Woodlands, TX; daughter, Donna Sue Jenkins of Centerville, VA; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.
