Obituary of Doris Cloer

COLUMBIA-Mrs. Doris "Dot" Cloer died peacefully early Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, at her home. The only child of the late Carlton and Bea Shore, She was born in Greer, South Carolina, on December 29, 1926. She was the widow of Thomas L. Cloer, USMC Retired, who preceded her in death in 1973. Surviving family members are her sons, Jim Cloer (Donna) of Columbia, South Carolina, with whom she lived, and Tim Cloer (Cindy) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and daughter, Cathy Kuhn (Bill) of Woodbridge, Virginia. She had six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cloer was a devoted, sacrificial and loving military wife and mother. Her church and family were the greatest joys of her life. She was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church and a member of the Anderson/Quattlebaum Sunday School class. Memorials may be made to North Trenholm Baptist Church, 6515 North Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29206. A special thanks to Ambria, Aretha, Sandra, Mike, and Brett, incredibly gifted and loving members of Hospice Advantage (formerly Heartstrings), and to a special caregiver, Melodie, for their kind and loving service to Mrs. Cloer and her family these past four months. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, at the home. A graveside service for Mrs. Cloer will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Reverend Joe Copeland will officiate.
