Obituary of Jerry Alfred Herring

LEXINGTON—A memorial service for Jerry Alfred Herring, 64, of Lexington will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Reverend Gene Rush will officiate. The family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the funeral home. Mr. Herring, beloved husband of Nancy Sanderson Herring, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014. Born in Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late Frank Herring and Mattie Bell Wright Herring. He was a proud Submariner in the United States Navy for 6 years and worked as a Computer Engineer for Hewlett-Packard. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who enjoyed travel, photography and good music. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 40 years, Nancy S. Herring of Lexington; son, Michael Herring of Fairlawn, VA; daughter, Katrina Herring of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Alice Doanes, (James), Pamela Herring, and Valerie Herring all of Atlanta, GA; brother, Gregory Herring of Atlanta, GA and a large and loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Herring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29202.
