Obituary of MSG Thurman Branham

COLUMBIA-A funeral service celebrating the life of MSG (Ret.) Thurman "Doc" Branham, Jr., 82, of Columbia will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Columbia Ward, 4440 Fort Jackson Blvd, Columbia, SC 29209. Full military honors and interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until the hour of the service at the church. On-line condolences may be sent to www.Thompsonsfuneral.com. "Doc", as he was affectionately called by family and friends, departed this earthly life on Friday, March 21, 2014. He was born in Blaney (Elgin), S.C. to Thurman Branham and Victoria Buckles Branham. Doc retired as Master Sergeant from the United States Army after 22 years of dedicated service to our country. After retirement from the United States Army, he was employed at Westinghouse from which he retired after 24 years. He was an active member of the Columbia Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Doc leaves a legacy of hard work, thrift, and service for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Anna Link Branham; his son and daughter-in-law, Gunther and Lorraine Branham of Libertyville, IL; grandchildren, Robert (Aarika) Branham of Dallas, Texas; David Branham of Denver, Colorado; Steven Branham of Provo, Utah; and Laura Branham of Libertyville, IL. Great-grandchildren include Benjamin Branham and Caleb Branham of Dallas, Texas. The family has entrusted Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Columbia Ward Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in care of Bishop Bronson Titus, 110 Christopher Street, Columbia, SC 29209.
