Obituary of Margaret Lee May

WEST COLUMBIA—Margaret Lee May, 91, of West Columbia, passed away on March 24, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, James May. Born in Camden, SC to the late Gilbert and Eva Mahaffey on May 28, 1922. She was a long time member of Pineview Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Carter and son-in-law, Watson Carter of West Columbia, Patricia Chesser and son-in-law, Jim Chesser of Powder Springs, GA; two grandchildren, Amanda Halstead and Justin Chesser, both of Marietta, GA and four great-granddaughters. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Reverend Brandon Sandifer will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pineview Baptist Church, for the Elderly in Guatemala, 3010 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC 29169.
