Obituary of Reverend Lee Roy Campbell

Memorial service celebrating the life of Reverend Lee Roy Campbell, Jr. (LR), 80, of West Columbia, SC will be held at Saint Andrews Baptist Church (SABC) 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210, on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with the family receiving friends before the service. LR passed on March 24, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Campbell and Hallie Wofford Campbell, sisters, Cleo Abercrombie, Miriam Glenn Hernandez, Nellie Deloria and Corrine Smith. He is survived by wife, Vera Meggs Campbell; son, Tony Campbell (Heidi); grandchildren, Becky Hare (Phillip), daughter; Halie Campbell, Kayla Campbell, Bishop Hare, Marlee Hare, Emily Hare, Daniel Hare (Nichole); great-grandchild, Braylen Hare; sister, Shirley Yarbrough (Ed). LR was a Graduate of North Greenville College, Presbyterian College, and Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest. He pastored, taught Bible Study, and led singing in churches in North Carolina, Georgia, and South Carolina. He served as an associate pastor in education and administration at SABC and Area Director of Missions for the Luther Rice Area encompassing Edgefield, Reedy River and Ridge Associations. His mission work included leading efforts with the Migrant Farmers and their families in South Carolina. He enjoyed singing, watching his grandchildren play sports, play music, and dance. He was a Masonic Mason, enjoyed reading and studying God's word.
